President John Dramani Mahama has pledged his administration’s commitment to reviving stalled projects, improving healthcare delivery, and tackling Ghana’s economic challenges.
Speaking at the first Akwasidae festival of 2025 at the Manhyia Palace, the President expressed gratitude to the people of the Ashanti Region for their support in the last election and assured them of his dedication to national development.
President Mahama underscored the importance of military healthcare facilities, particularly during times of strikes in public hospitals. “Military hospitals remain operational during industrial actions, which is why we decided to establish a second military hospital,” he noted.
He revealed plans to revive the partially completed military hospital in Kumasi, abandoned for over eight years, to enhance healthcare delivery in the region.
Addressing Ghana’s economic hardships, the President acknowledged the challenges but assured citizens of his resolve to work diligently toward solutions. “We will do our best to create a better Ghana for our children and grandchildren,” he said.
President Mahama thanked the Ashanti Region for their support, recognizing the region’s role in his party’s electoral victory. “Your confidence in us has contributed significantly to our success, and I am deeply grateful,” he remarked.
He concluded with well-wishes for Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Ashanti Kingdom, expressing hopes for continued progress and blessings for the nation.
The colourful Akwasidae festival featured traditional drumming, dancing, and cultural displays, drawing leaders and citizens together to celebrate the rich heritage of the Ashanti Kingdom.
