• 99.52% IGF Target Smashed in Just 6 months
The Jasikan Municipal Assembly has emerged as the best-performing district in Internally Generated Fund (IGF) mobilisation in the Oti Region, reaching an impressive 99.52% of its annual IGF target within just the first half of 2025.
The Assembly’s sterling performance, according to officials, is the result of robust revenue mobilisation strategies and sound financial management practices implemented under the leadership of the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Parke-Davis Magyigbe.
“This achievement is not just about the numbers—it’s about effective governance, accountability, and a vision for local development,” Hon. Magyigbe stated. “Every cedi collected is a building block for improved services, better infrastructure, and a stronger economy for the people of Jasikan.”
The Assembly’s near-complete performance against its IGF target signals a renewed commitment to fiscal discipline and resource optimisation—a move that has won praise from regional monitors and local stakeholders alike. Sources at the Oti Regional Coordinating Council noted that Jasikan’s 99.52% IGF performance is unmatched in the region, setting a benchmark for other assemblies to emulate.
Revenue from IGF sources—ranging from business operating permits, property rates, market tolls and other local levies—forms a critical part of district financing, and Jasikan’s ability to meet its target within six months means more resources are now available to fund roads, schools, clinics, water systems, and sanitation services across the municipality.
Development observers say the feat reflects not only technical capacity and staff commitment, but also political will at the very top. Hon. Magyigbe is said to have introduced data-driven collection methods, accountability checks, and community outreach programmes to boost taxpayer compliance and plug revenue leakages.
“This is what local governance should look like,” a local market leader, Madam Esther Akoto, said. “We can see that our taxes are being put to use. Roads are being patched, and schools are being painted.”
As the Assembly moves into the second half of the year, expectations are high that it will not only exceed its IGF target, but also continue to roll out transformative initiatives that will elevate the socio-economic conditions of residents.
“Jasikan’s story shows that with discipline, leadership, and community buy-in, local government can truly work,” said a regional official familiar with the assessment.
The success of Jasikan is now being hailed as a shining example of what good governance can deliver in Ghana’s decentralisation agenda, and a challenge to other assemblies across the country to re-evaluate their financial strategies.
