Keta Business College (KETABUSCO) is the third school from Ghana’s Volta Region to be banned from competing in the Sprite Ball Championship.

This comes after the school was found to have used unqualified players to compete in the 2020 Sprite Ball Championship; KETABUSCO won the competition thanks to a 48-40 win over Mfantsipim School in the final game.

As many as five players nonstudents including Most Valuable Player of the Tournament Prince Gidisu were used by the school in the tournament regarded as Ghana’s biggest at the High School level.

As a result, KETABUSCO has been banned indefinitely from competing in the tournament by the Ghana Education Service (GES) following an announcement made on Tuesday, January 14.

Mawuli Senior High School and Keta Senior High Technical School used nonstudents to compete in the 2018 edition and were subsequently banned from the tournament for two years respectively.

The ban on KETABUSCO was announced after investigations by the GES and a meeting the school’s Headmaster and Physical Education Head and Assistant.
