The Oti Regional Executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended the Chairman of Nchumuru Constituency, Joseph Kwame Danso Asiam, for alleged gross misconduct and insubordination.
The suspension letter, which was signed by the party’s Regional Secretary, Joshua G. Makubu, on Sunday, further ordered Danso-Asiam to hand over items and belongings to the Constituency’s first Vice Chair, Kwasi Nkrumah Ogile, who would function in acting capacity.
Consequently, the Oti Regional Executive Committee has decided to suspend you as Chairman, Nchumuru Constituency of the NPP with immediate effect, pending investigation and further action by the Disciplinary Committee and the Regional Executive Committee.
“In the interim, you are hereby directed to hand over the party office and its affairs to the First Vice Chairman of the Constituency.”
In a letter signed by the Regional Secretary and addressed to Kwasi Nkrumah Ogyile instructing him to assume his duties as the Acting Constituency Chairman, said the decision became imminent for thorough investigation into the alleged misconduct of Joseph Kwame Danso Asiam.
Dated March 22, 2020, the letter reads: ‘I write to inform you that disciplinary actions have been initiated against Joseph Kwame Danso Asiam, the Constituency Chairman, over an alleged audio recording. Pursuant to Article 3(7) (-2), the Regional Executives at a meeting decided that the Chairman steps-aside as an enquiry into the case against him is being carried out’.
In reference to Article 7(19) of the Constitution of our party, you are requested to act in the place of the Constituency Chairman pending the outcome of the enquiry.
The alleged unruly behaviors and gross insubordination of the Chairman are inconsistent with the core values of New Patriotic party, a Chieftain of the party told The Hawk.
Kwame Anane Isaac, in February 2020 filed a petition for the removal of Chairman, Joseph Kwame Danso Asiam for reasons he claimed contravenes the constitution of the New Patriotic Party
Mr Anane said he was irked by the persistent diatribe against the Parliamentary Candidate of the Constituency, Innocent Kakatachie and the District Chief Executive, Augustine Kwasi Appiah, by the Constituency Chairman.
Kwame Anane Isaac, the Chairman of the Nchumuru Constituency Disciplinary Committee, invoked the jurisdiction of the Regional Disciplinary Committee to investigate his Constituency Chairman, Joseph Kwame Danso Asiam.
Anane Isaac had persistently insisted that Chairman Danso must be made to jump or he is pushed in order to restore peace to the highly fragmented constituency.
