Lawyer Kwame Dennis Ofori-Asiedu (Tapa Krakye)
Kwame Dennis Ofori-Asiedu, a member of the National Communication team of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), achieved a significant milestone on Friday as he, along with 1,096 law scholars, was called to the bar after an 11-year journey filled with obstacles.
Dennis began his law studies at the University of Ghana Faculty of Law in 2012 from Tapa, a hamlet in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region . Hs graduation last Friday marked the end of a tumultuous academic journey characterised by hardship and perseverance.
Reflecting on his arduous path, Dennis revealed that his legal education was marred by challenges, including delays and personal setbacks. He graduated from the University of Ghana in 2014 but encountered difficulties registering for the Makola entrance exams, leading to further delays.
“I couldn’t participate in 2017 when the program was reduced to one year, and I made the personal decision to skip the 2018 batch,” Dennis explained. He returned in 2019, only to discover that the program had reverted to a two-year duration. Additionally, he faced difficulty in writing certain exams due to his inability to travel promptly from Dambai following an unsuccessful regional Secretaryship election.
The persistent law enthusiast continued, “In 2020, I decided not to attempt the exams, and it wasn’t until 2021 that I made another unsuccessful effort. Finally, in 2023, I harnessed my determination and mental resolve to clear my exams and achieve this milestone.”
Kwame Dennis emphasized that juggling political activism with law studies was no easy feat. His journey to the bar, spanning more than a decade, serves as a testament to his unwavering determination and resilience.
