Vice President Kashim Shettima, Nigeria

In a passionate appeal, Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians, especially the youth, to steer clear of the nationwide protests slated for August 1, 2024, emphasizing the need for unity and focused development.

Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the wedding of four daughters of the Shehu of Borno in Maiduguri, Shettima stressed that protests have never solved a nation’s challenges but instead lead to the destruction of lives and property. “There can never be development without peace; there can never be peace without development,” he declared, urging youths to avoid the path of anarchy and destruction.

Shettima assured Nigerians that President Tinubu is acutely aware of the nation’s struggles and is committed to addressing inherited challenges. He implored citizens to maintain faith in the Federal Government’s efforts, promising that the administration’s dedication to transforming Nigeria into a powerful economy with robust social welfare will soon be evident.

Highlighting that the architects of the planned protest are operating from abroad, Shettima warned citizens to learn from the turmoil in Sudan, Syria, and Libya. “What they are agitating for is a road to Khartoum, to Damascus, to Tripoli. Insha Allah, Nigerians will not dance to the tune of these anarchists and saboteurs,” he stated firmly.

The Vice President reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to improving the welfare and lives of Nigerians, leaving no stone unturned in this mission. Reflecting on the returning peace in Borno State, Shettima called for unity and support for the governor’s efforts to address developmental deficits and aid the downtrodden.

“We’ve had enough challenges in Borno, in the subregion, and the nation as a whole. This is a time for unity and focused development. Let’s rally around our governor and resist the mischief-makers operating from the comfort of Australia, Finland, and the United States,” he urged.

In a personal touch, Shettima gave away one of the Shehu’s daughters in marriage and wished the couples blissful and blessed unions. “May Allah bless all the unions with offspring that will be the pride of all the Ummah and families. Insha Allah, the marriages will be hugely blessed by the Almighty Allah,” he concluded.
