Outspoken academic, Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo of the University of Ghana, has gone on the offensive, threatening to drag New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, to court over “baseless and defamatory” accusations. The Senior Lecturer at the university’s Political Science Department has had enough and isn’t holding back, unleashing a blistering rebuttal in a Facebook post that’s already buzzing social media.
In his post, Prof Gyampo hit back at Mustapha’s explosive claim that he and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were allegedly conspiring to “disenfranchise” Ghanaian students through a recent University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) strike. Gyampo was blunt, calling the accusation “baseless” and hinting that he was ready to go all the way this time.
“Over the last five years, I’ve had enough false accusations from men clutching at straws,” the professor declared. But, he continued, Mustapha is no ordinary figure to brush aside, calling him “a big catch” for his position both as a presidential staffer and head of the NPP’s youth wing. Gyampo has now instructed his lawyers to file a suit, intent on forcing Mustapha to prove his accusations in court.
Gyampo made it clear that this isn’t just another social media spat he’s willing to let slide. “I’m willing to spend every pesewa I have to settle this matter once and for all,” he vowed, urging his followers to “share this and let the boy and his elders behind him know” that he’s determined to see justice served.
With both parties unyielding, and the courts now likely to get involved, this showdown between a heavyweight academic and a top NPP youth leader promises to captivate the nation. Will Mustapha back down, or is he ready for the legal gauntlet Gyampo has thrown down? Time will tell, but one thing’s certain—this feud is only just getting started.
