Ghanaian gospel artiste Great Ampong has been forced to swallow his words and apologise to Ghanaians and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over a controversial campaign song that aimed at ex-President John Mahama.

Before the December 7, 2024, elections, Ampong released a track backing Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, but the lyrics—laced with unfounded claims—sparked outrage, especially among NDC supporters.
Now, in a dramatic U-turn, Ampong has released a fresh song titled ‘Apology’, pleading for unity among Ghanaians and admitting that his previous track contained “inappropriate lyrics” against the NDC and certain individuals.

In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), the artiste admitted that politicians deceive the masses, promising heaven during campaigns but delivering nothing once in power.
Ampong, who once fiercely campaigned for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), now says he has seen the light.

“Politicians are selfish. They don’t genuinely care about us or the state of the country. They only remember the people when they need votes,” he said in his apology track.
While some Ghanaians have welcomed his change of heart, others say it’s too little, too late!

Will the NDC forgive him, or has he burned his bridges for good?
