A wave of anger and solidarity is sweeping across the Krobo community as the Concerned Krobo Youth rise to defend Deputy IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno against what they describe as a “shameful and calculated attempt” to tarnish his impeccable reputation.

In a strongly worded statement, the group condemned a recent spate of allegations and media reports aimed at discrediting the highly respected police officer. They accused certain media outlets, police insiders, and other individuals of orchestrating a smear campaign against COP Yohuno, who they say has served Ghana with unwavering dedication.

At the heart of the controversy is COP Yohuno’s support for junior officers in his Secretariat who were allegedly transferred unlawfully by the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare. According to the Krobo Youth, the transfers bypassed standard police procedures, leaving the affected officers no choice but to seek redress through the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the courts.
But before the legal process could unfold, the youth claimed that unfounded allegations were fed to the media to damage COP Yohuno’s credibility.

“The statements being circulated are nothing but lies, designed to mislead the public and cast aspersions on a man who has dedicated his life to serving Ghana,” said Emmanuel Okra, one of the convenors.

A Decorated Career

The Krobo Youth painted a glowing picture of COP Yohuno’s career, emphasizing his track record of professionalism and integrity. From his early days as Deputy Regional Police Commander in 2011—where he earned a Grand Medal Award from then-President John Atta-Mills—to his current role as Deputy IGP, Yohuno has been lauded for his fairness and hard work. “Mr. Yohuno’s rise through the ranks has been based purely on merit. He is apolitical, treats all Ghanaians equally, and remains committed to the development of our nation,” said Yakubu Ibrahim, another convenor.

The statement didn’t shy away from criticizing IGP Dampare, accusing him of targeting officers he perceives as threats.
“This is not the first time Dampare has used unlawful transfers as a weapon. Officers who attended a funeral in solidarity with EOCO boss Maame Yaa Tiwaa were sent to remote locations. Now, anyone seen visiting COP Yohuno’s Secretariat risks being transferred to the North,” the group claimed.

The Concerned Krobo Youth declared their unwavering support for COP Yohuno, describing him as a “true son of the land” whose integrity and leadership remain unblemished despite the recent attacks.
“We will not stand by and watch while a man of such high moral character is dragged through the mud. COP Yohuno has earned the respect and admiration of all who know him, and we will not let baseless allegations overshadow his contributions to the police service and our nation,” said Amos Koranten Oman, another convenor.

The group also called for greater scrutiny of IGP Dampare’s leadership, accusing him of fostering division within the police service.
“The ongoing disunity in the police administration is a direct result of Dampare’s poor leadership. His actions have not only harmed individuals but also undermined the cohesion of the entire force,” the statement read.
