Elikplim Akrugu in red and flanked by NDC Officers

Residents of Kwabenya have commended Elipklim Akrugu, the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Parliamentary Candidate for the area for distribution of food items to the community, to cushion the economic impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the people.

A cross-section of residents gave the commendation in separate interviews with thehawknewspaper.com, on Wednesday, against the backdrop of the NDC Flagbearer’s call on his party (NDC) to join hands with government to fight the spread of the pandemic.

Elikplim Akrugu has flagged off the distribution of food items to households across the Dome Kwabenya Constituency as a palliative for the harsh economic conditions caused by the lockdown to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.

The lockdown was imposed about a week ago to check the spread of the disease, particularly with the recording of 152 confirmed cases earlier in March.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at the Elikplim’s Office on Wednesday, Elikplim said the relief materials packaged in sacks and cartons would be distributed to the vulnerable to make life easier for them.

She said intended beneficiaries include the poor, the aged, the physically challenged, and the unemployed.

According to Mrs. Victoria Frimpong, a retired civil servant, the gesture has shown that Eliplim Akrugu is poised to wipe away the suffering of Kwabenya people.

She said since her emergence at the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC, She (Elipklim) have been putting smiles on their faces.

A trader from Dome, said people never expected that Elikplim would keep to her words in this trying times.

“For him to even put preventive measures in place, shows her genuine love for the people of Dome Kwabenya and their safety. “I’m not a politician but I bet you, this woman might take us beyond our expectations’.

“People are very hungry for now, so, at least after this time, it can commence fully, because these are trying time for everyone in Dome Kwabenya, and all over the world,” he said.

Awudu, a resident and worker at the Accra Technical  University (ATU), commended the aspirant for the donation of food items to the people.

Joshua Hamidu Akamba, the National Organizer of opposition NDC implored the Ms Elipklim  to always prioritize people of Dome Kwabenya and work for the benefit of all, irrespective of party affiliations.

A beneficiary of the food items, Rose, a fishmonger, said Elikplim has shown that she has her people at heart.

She urged her to continue with her good works and that God will always reward her.

“I believe Elikplim Akrugu will take us very far, as a Constituency. Most of the things we don’t have she will bring to us. I want all people to work with her because she is a good woman sent from God to save the of Dome Kwabenya,” she said.

A Chieftain of the NDC, in Dome who preferred anonymity, expressed confidence that Elikplim would perform beyond the people’s imagination.
