Embattled NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua has fired back at party insiders who blame him for the party’s catastrophic 2024 election defeat, insisting he is not an impotent leader.

Kodua, who was never President Akufo-Addo’s favourite for the job, has been under fire from disgruntled NPP members who say he failed to control government excesses and stop policies that made the party unpopular. But he isn’t having any of it!

Speaking on Kumasi’s Wontumi FM, Kodua rejected accusations that he was weak and ineffective.

“I have heard people, especially those eyeing my position, calling me weak. K.K., do I look impotent to you? Impotent leaders don’t challenge their own government! I was the only General Secretary who boldly called for a reshuffle and told underperforming ministers to step aside,” he blasted.

Kodua insists the NPP lost not because of his leadership but because the government abandoned its party base.

“The NPP lost because the government distanced itself from the party. That’s the painful truth,” he declared.

As the NPP tries to regroup, Kodua faces a serious challenge to his position. Former MPs Eugene Boakye Antwi and Henry Kwabena Kokofu have already declared their intentions to contest him, making it an Ashanti showdown for the party’s chief scribe.

With critics circling and rivals lining up, the big question remains—can Kodua prove he’s still got the fire, or will he be pushed aside? The battle for NPP’s future is on!
