Jerry Owusu Appauh-LPG

Ahead of December’s election, the Director of Operations and Elections of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Jerry Owusu Appauh has called the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, a big joke.

Criticizing the NDC flagbearer, he said John Mahama has conceded defeat for sending the word of caution six clear months before elections.

Addressing a flag-raising ceremony at the NDC Headquarters at Adabraka in Accra to mark the 28th anniversary of the formation of the NDC, the former President reiterated the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC’s) commitment to peace before, during and after the 2020 elections.

He said the NDC would do its part to ensure that the country remained peaceful and the electoral process proceeded smoothly.

However, he cautioned that the party would not accept the results of a flawed election.

“As the leader of the NDC, I wish to serve notice that we shall do our part to ensure that our country remains peaceful and the electoral process proceeds smoothly. But, and a big but, let nobody assume that we will accept the results of a flawed election,” he stressed.

Responding to Mahama’s caution, “Jerry said it is a mark of someone sensing defeat ahead of time. He added that the candidacy of John Mahama is a joke”

Mr. Appauh has since faulted the leadership of Mahama and the NDC for how poorly they have conducted themselves as the major opposition party that they always want to be known for.

Reacting to Mahama’s claim, how can a political party that claimed to have won elections in eight of the previous ten regions concede defeat in an election that is yet to begin?

What happens to their strongholds and their claim that they the biggest political party in the annals of Ghana?

Mahama is afraid of defeat because he knows he cannot win.  We in the LPG are ready for the election and by 9th December Mahama would remain a permanent candidate for the NDC.
