Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo wasted no time in tackling concerns raised by outraged students of Odorgonno Senior High, who hit the streets in protest over a faulty traffic light that left them dodging cars on a busy road.

The students’ demonstration, which quickly gained traction online, highlighted the urgent safety risk posed by the malfunctioning light. In response, Hon. Ocloo sprang into action, engaging the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Roads and Highways Authority, leading to the swift deployment of a technical team to fix the problem.

“I immediately engaged the Regional Directorate of the Ghana Roads and Highways Authority to expedite an assessment and resolution of the issue,” the minister stated, confirming that the technical team had been dispatched for urgent repairs.

But she didn’t stop there. Taking a broader approach, Hon. Ocloo has ordered a full review of traffic infrastructure in the area to prevent future failures and keep road users safe.

Commending the students for their activism, she said: “I commend the students for their constructive engagement in raising this critical concern, which underscores the importance of civic responsibility and the role of the youth in shaping our collective future.”

She further urged residents to use official feedback platforms to report infrastructure concerns for “swift and structured responses”, ensuring problems are tackled efficiently without disrupting public order.
