The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has ordered an urgent investigation into a viral video alleging that some police personnel at Kibi withdrew GH¢400,000 from a mobile money agent’s account without authorisation.
The probe has been handed to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), the unit responsible for investigating misconduct within the service.
According to a police statement, the alleged victim has already been contacted by investigators and is cooperating with the ongoing inquiry.
The video circulating online claims that the large sum was withdrawn from the agent’s mobile money account under questionable circumstances involving officers stationed in Kibi.
Police say the investigation will establish the facts behind the claims and determine whether any officers breached professional or legal standards.
Authorities assured the public that the outcome of the probe will be made public once investigations are completed.
