Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey

Pending any unforeseen developments, former Tema West Lawmaker, Lawyer Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey, may be named as the running mate to the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 presidential election.

The Hawk gathered that Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia is considering offering the position to the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator to curtail the internal rumblings.

The grapevine has it that Dr Bawumia would have since announced the Manhyia South MP and Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate but for the stiff opposition to the idea by some chieftains within the party, particularly those of his home region-Ashanti Region.

As at Saturday 23, March, 2024, efforts were in top gear to smoothen the way for the District Assemblies Common Fund Administrator and a two-termed member of parliament to be named.

‘Efforts are now underway to pave the way for the naming of the Naa Torshie. Some Regional leaders of the party have taken the lead in rallying support for Naa Torshie’s candidacy, aiming to convince the flagbearer to endorse her as his running mate’.

A source close to Bawumia For President 2024 and the Common Fund Administrator confided in the The Hawk on Saturday that the meeting and the visits by eminent Chiefs and Religious Authorities and party kingpins were a sign that progress had been made on the choice of Naa Torshie.

The presidential candidate, we are told had bared his soul on the idea of his running mate in a crunch meeting.

Many have openly or subtly expressed their intentions to join forces with Dr. Bawumia for the 2024 elections. Several have also mobilized lobbyists of various persuasions, while others rely on the support of radio hosts, news editors, and social media influencers to further their ambitions.

Key figures in this race include Chief of Staff Akosua Osei Frema Opare, Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ursula Owusu-Ekuffu, Irene Naa Torshie, among others.

However, reliable information obtained by The Hawk suggests that if no changes occur between now and the time Bawumia unveils his running mate, Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey would be the chosen candidate.

Meanwhile, a cooked report by National Security is pointing elsewhere.
