Hon. Dr. Kwamena Minta Nyarku, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency, has been appointed as the Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Select Committee of Petitions and a member of the Defense and Interior Committee.
Known affectionately as RAGGA, Dr. Nyarku was previously involved in the Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee; Poverty Reduction Strategy; and the African Parliamentary Network Against Corruption. He has now been reassigned to new committees and associations.
A parliamentary release on Tuesday, 16th July 2024, announced that RAGGA is now the Vice Chair of the Committee of Petitions; a member of the Defense and Interior Committee; a member of the African Parliamentarian Network Against Corruption; Vice Chairman of the Ghana-Germany Parliamentary Association; and a member of both the Ghana-India and Ghana-Israel Parliamentary Associations.
Sources indicate that this reshuffling is part of the New Standing Orders of Parliament, aimed at realigning committees for greater efficiency. Parliamentary sources noted that some committees had overlapping functions, necessitating this realignment. Consequently, Dr. Nyarku has been given increased responsibilities as the Vice Chairman of the Committee of Petitions.
