A group of individuals has been caught red-handed stealing chippings from a newly tarred road connecting Nkowkow and Abirem in the Eastern Region. Despite the potential repercussions of their actions, these culprits were observed loading chippings onto their tricycle from the freshly graveled road, with intentions of personal gain.
Thankfully, a vigilant motorist intervened, disrupting their illicit activities. The motorist, displaying a sense of patriotism, halted the theft, recorded the incident, and issued a stern warning of reporting the perpetrators to the Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD). Had it not been for this intervention, the individuals would have succeeded in pilfering a significant quantity of chippings, posing a detriment to the local community and the nation as a whole.
In a video capturing the confrontation, the concerned citizen is heard questioning the morality of the culprits’ actions. He voiced apprehension that these individuals might exploit the community against its leaders, employing slogans such as “No Roads, No Vote.” This incident sheds light on the glaring absence of patriotism demonstrated by such irresponsible behavior.
Calls have emerged from the public urging security agencies to swiftly identify and apprehend the offenders. The community emphasizes the importance of holding these individuals accountable through legal measures. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the imperative role played by vigilant community members in safeguarding public resources and infrastructure from theft and misuse.
