William Ruto, President of Kenya

President William Ruto has once again defended his choice of cabinet nominees, emphasizing that it represents the diverse face of the nation and is key to achieving his government’s flagship projects.

Addressing residents in Bura, Mwatate constituency, Ruto justified including opposition leaders in his cabinet, stating that the current situation necessitated a review of priorities and a more inclusive approach.

“As a democratic nation, we must rise above party and ethnic politics for our country to move forward. That is why I have decided to form a more inclusive government, as many Kenyans have requested,” Ruto said.

However, Ruto lamented that some projects earmarked for completion might face delays due to budget cuts resulting from the finance bill rejection. He reassured the public that he remains committed to securing resources to complete these projects.

“Some people wanted us to fail and incited Kenyans to reject a bill that would have facilitated the completion of these projects. Although all is not lost, I am committed to completing development projects in this region,” he stated.

Earlier, the President handed over a school bus to Kombolio Secondary School in Mwatate and promised several projects for the residents of the Coastal region. These include the construction of 2,000 affordable houses in Voi and Wundanyi, and at least 3,000 hostel units for students at Taita Taveta University, Taita Taveta National Polytechnic, and Mwatate Technical Polytechnic.

Ruto also disclosed that Ksh.500 million has been set aside for electricity connections in Mwatate, aiming to connect at least 10,000 new residents to the grid.
Reaffirming his commitment to creating more opportunities for the youth, the President said, “Leaders must mobilize the youth to seize these opportunities. At least 1,000 youths are leaving the country every week for overseas jobs.”
