In a grand celebration at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Justice Jojo Gabriel Aggenim Boateng was lauded for his exemplary service, receiving the Distinguished Administrator award in the Senior Member category. The event, held on July 31, 2024, at the School of Graduate Studies Auditorium, was part of the Send-Off and Long Service Awards and the 5th Staff Recognition Ceremony.

Prof. Anokye Adam, Provost of the College of Distance Education, UCC, stood in for Vice Chancellor Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong. He highlighted that the staff recognition awards, initiated in 2015, play a crucial role in motivating staff. Although the annual awards began in 2016, they were paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other administrative challenges. The ceremony was revived in 2023 and held again this year to honour dedicated staff.

Prof. Boampong proudly announced that 18 staff members were honoured for their outstanding performance and dedication. The awards were categorized into four for Senior Members, nine for Senior Staff, and five for Junior Staff.

Dr. Justice Aggenim Boateng, Head of UCC Affiliations, spoke on behalf of the awardees, expressing gratitude to the university management for recognizing their hard work and dedication. “We thank those who nominated us, the university management for providing us with all the necessary logistics, and all UCC affiliates for the harmonious working relationship we’ve shared over the years,” he said. He encouraged young employees to work with integrity, emphasizing that such commitment guarantees recognition over time.

The event concluded with a special tribute to retiring staff, both teaching and non-teaching, who have served between six and 42 years. Notably, Mr. Joseph Wilberforce Ansah of the Electricity Section was honoured for his remarkable 42 years of service.
