Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has paid a courtesy call on the Omanhen of Cape Coast, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, at the Emintsimadze Palace, as part of her outreach engagements in the Central Region.

In a Facebook post recounting the visit, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang described the occasion as an honour, noting she was warmly received by the Omanhen, his elders, and traditional leaders of the area. The visit, she explained, was an opportunity to express gratitude to the people of Cape Coast and the wider Central Region for their continued support and prayers.

“I came to express my gratitude to the Central Region for their unwavering support and to ask for their continued prayers as we work together for Ghana,” she wrote.

The Vice President acknowledged what she termed as “tremendous support” received throughout her political journey and reiterated the government’s dedication to building “a country that works for all, and not just a privileged few.”

Her remarks were met with a strong show of confidence from Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, who encouraged the Vice President to remain grounded in service and maintain her focus on the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.

The Omanhen noted the burdens many citizens face daily and urged continued government action to ease their struggles, while praising Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s humility and accessibility.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s visit comes at a time when the government is intensifying its engagements with local communities and traditional authorities, especially in regions considered crucial to national development and political mobilisation.

The Central Region, noted for its cultural heritage and strategic political weight, remains a key area of interest for the Vice President, herself a native of the region.
