The abandoned 600 bed dormitory

A six hundred capacitor dormitory project initiated by the Christ the King Catholic Senior High School in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region at the cost of millions through the School Management has been abandoned and the site turned into farm settlement, leaving the school with serious infrastructural challenges.

Work on a new girls’ dormitory block which started in 2012 to accommodate some 600 students has been stalled and abandoned.

The over ninety percent completed block is outgrown by weeds, while the situation has forced management of the school to convert classroom into dormitory to house female students.

The abandoned project was discovered when the Catholic Bishop of Obuasi paid a working visit to the school.

Most Rev. John Afoakwa, who paid a visit to the school to celebrate the Christ the king feast, expressed displeasure at the non-completion of the project.
