GTA-SUPPORT-NZULEZU-COMMUNITY-1-918x459

In a compassionate response to the dire situation faced by the Nzulezu Community, known for its unique stilted homes above Lake Tadane, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has stepped forward with essential relief items. On Thursday, June 29, 2023, the GTA, through its Western Regional office, donated crucial relief supplies to alleviate the plight of the community.

Amidst reports and distressing videos circulating on social media depicting the community’s severe flooding predicament, the GTA’s proactive action has offered a glimmer of hope. The flooding had resulted in the displacement of residents and the destruction of homes and belongings, prompting the evacuation of the entire community, comprising approximately 500 individuals, to the neighbouring Beyin community.

The relief package, generously provided by the GTA, includes 500 bags of 5kg rice, 42 boxes of cooking oil, 25 bags of 25kg sugar, 50 boxes of bathing soap, and 50 boxes of washing soap. The collective effort behind this initiative was fueled by the dedication of CEO Mr Akwasi Agyeman and Western Regional Director Mr Henry Yeleduor, with the endorsement of the Board of Directors.

Nananom, local leaders, and the entire Nzulezu community expressed their profound gratitude to the GTA for its swift response and meaningful support during this challenging time. The GTA’s assistance extends beyond immediate relief, embodying a compassionate commitment to the well-being of the community.

Nzulezu, a community known for its stilted homes suspended above Lake Tadane in the Jomoro District of the Western Region, is renowned as one of Ghana’s most iconic and frequently visited tourist destinations. Despite the current tribulations, the resilience of Nzulezu endures as a testament to the enduring spirit of its residents and the unity of purpose that binds communities together.
