Veteran political talk show host, Kwabena Bobie-Ansah, has unleashed a scathing critique aimed at the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their condemnation of the recent outbreak of violence during the vetting of parliamentary aspirants in the Odododiodio Constituency.
In response to the incident, a statement issued by the NDC’s National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, on Saturday, October 14 expressed the party’s deep regret and condemnation of the attack on Akosua Otchere. The statement emphasised the NDC’s commitment to press freedom and its intention to swiftly identify and address the perpetrators of the attack.
Unapologetically expressing his views, The Citizen Show host likened the actions of the NDC group in Odododiodio to martial arts training, which he perceives as a preparatory strategy for the 2024 elections.
Taking to social media to air his grievances, the seasoned broadcaster called out the leadership of his party, questioning their criticism of the violence during the vetting process. He argued that the altercation was intended to boost physical fitness and instil confidence among party members as they gear up for the upcoming elections.
“‘NDC Odododiodio groups just started some small martial arts training towards 2024 and the party executives say weytin? I also condemn the statement from the NDC leadership. ‘Mo mma Nipa ndwene’ to wit (Let us think). NDC must show their violent posture. Finito’ he shared.”
Bobie-Ansah contends that the NDC has not adequately demonstrated its capacity for a confrontational stance to the Ghanaian voter. He urged the NDC to display their aggressive posture, challenging their counterparts in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to understand that violence is not monopolised by any one party.
The veteran talk show host’s bold statements are generating a heated debate, further highlighting the polarised political atmosphere in the run-up to the 2024 elections.
