In a heartwarming show of community unity, the Banda Youth Association (BYA) in Accra went the extra mile for education, supplying vital school materials to three public basic schools in the Banda community: Banda Roman Catholic (R/C) Junior High and Primary School, District Assembly (D/A) Junior High and Primary, and English/Arabic (E/A) Primary and Junior High. Their donation included essential items like exercise books, pencils, pens, erasers, and other stationery, all aimed at boosting the academic performance of younger students.
This impactful initiative, spearheaded by BYA, underlines their commitment to broader educational enhancement, hinting at future efforts that will also include private schools. Chairman Frederick Opoku Denkyira spoke passionately about their deeper goal, stressing their familiarity with the community’s challenges in educating children.
Denkyira highlighted the harsh conditions students face—some studying under trees or in incomplete structures filled with sand—yet these same students are set to undertake the pivotal Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E). He stressed the urgency to address these hardships, emphasizing their critical role in ensuring the children’s future prospects.
Banda holds significant electoral sway in the Nchumburu Constituency. They play a decisive role in electing representatives, yet development has bypassed them,’ An Opinion maker lamented, drawing attention to the community’s overlooked status.
To expand their reach, Frederick called on corporations and individuals with philanthropic inclinations to support schools in the Nchumburu District, with a special focus on Banda. This concerted effort reflects BYA’s mission to elevate educational standards and opportunities, especially for Banda’s children, across the region.
