The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in full panic mode, with Alhaji Masawudu Osman, the party’s Third National Vice Chairman, urgently calling for a showdown with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as tensions erupt across the country. Osman’s desperate plea comes as the presence of NDC’s Malik Basintale is said to be terrorising the NPP, with party supporters fearing intimidation and pressure at key Electoral Commission (EC) collation centres.

In a fiery address to his party’s members, Osman painted a picture of an NPP under siege, with Basintale allegedly driving the fear that has swept through the party. “The men in NPP, come out!” Osman urged, calling on his supporters to rise against the mounting intimidation. He openly admitted the panic among NPP ranks, saying, “I won’t stand by and let Basintale terrorize my people,” adding that the party must unite to confront the perceived threats.

The Vice Chairman’s call to arms comes in the wake of chaotic scenes at the EC’s collation centres, where the NDC has seemingly gained the upper hand in pushing for results in their favour. Osman’s tone grew more desperate as he appealed to the party to defend itself against the growing sense of vulnerability, even going as far as to encourage those with weapons to “bring them out” to protect the NPP’s interests.

“We won’t allow Basintale to instil fear in our people. If the NDC doesn’t appreciate our peace efforts, we’ll show them how much better we are at fighting back,” Osman vowed, reflecting the deepening sense of fear and uncertainty within the NPP ranks.

As the NPP faces the aftermath of a crushing defeat, including major losses in parliamentary seats, Osman’s speech is a sign of the party’s growing panic and disarray. The once confident NPP now appears rattled, with Basintale’s presence casting a long shadow over their efforts to salvage their position in the election. The next few days will reveal whether the NPP can rise above the terror gripping them or if the fear of Basintale will continue to dominate their every move.
