The Greater Accra Regional Election Committee of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed October 16th for Deputy Women Organizer and Deputy Youth Organizer rerun.
The election was keenly contested, and Amos Blessing of The Alhaj Newspaper and Braimah Jessica were declared winners for the youth and women deputies respectively at the end of the polls.
However, due to irregularities, the party has cancelled the votes recorded by all the Deputy Regional Women Organizer and Deputy Regional Youth Organizer.
Quoting the National Organizer, Kofi Adams,’ since they did not follow the rules of the elections as a greed by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) and subsequently National Executive Committee (NEC), the results of the deputies are deemed null and void.
According our investigations, delegates voted twice and in some cases trice for their preferred candidates in the deputy contest as against the rules of the election.
Against the backdrop of the multiple voting, the party has thus set Saturday 13th October 2018 to rerun the affected positions.
