Elikplim Akrugu, the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, for the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, took a decision to join the war to stop the spread of the coronavirus in her constituency and the country as a whole.

In response to her community, she donated several bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, Veronica buckets, detergents and tissue to Dome New Market Association, Lorry stations, health facilities and some essential service providers.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, hand sanitizer has been in high demand and hard to find on store shelves.  The high demand is causing shortage and by far may affect healthcare and the fight against the spread of the virus.

According to Elikiplim, she decided to respond to the crisis, by donating hand sanitizers, Veronica Buckets the market workers because for her, they need it most.

She said, she intends to continue providing hand sanitizer throughout the community. Another donation is planned for all health facilities, Police Stations within Dome-Kwabenya.

‘All markets, police stations, health felicities lorry parks across Dome-Kwabenya are going receive Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, detergents and tissue to help them stay protected against the Corona Virus since they meet people every day’. ‘We need to protect those who protect us’, she told thehawknewspaper.com.

Receiving the items, the Queen of Dome New Market Association, lauded Elikplim Agrugu for the gesture, and pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders in the market to prevent the spread of the virus.

She acknowledged the timing of the donation as crucial, noting that such products have become expensive and scarce due to recent high demand.

The novel Coronavirus cases in Ghana have increased to 93, with four deaths recorded on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Also, a man, aged 53, who is a resident in Tema, who has no history of travel outside Ghana tested positive for the virus.
