Ghana’s esteemed 2020 Best Teacher and an ICT instructor at Naylor SDA Basic School in Tema, has received a nomination for the highly coveted Outstanding Contribution in Education category at the upcoming Global Educational Supplies and Solutions Award in Dubai for 2023.
Mr Asante, who rose to prominence as the Most Outstanding Teacher in 2020, has since been dedicated to several initiatives to bring ICT education to underprivileged schools. His unwavering enthusiasm, coupled with a genuine passion for imparting knowledge to the younger generation, and his innovative approach to integrating technology into education, have earned him recognition.
In May 2023, Eric Asante was honoured as the 2022 National Best STEM Teacher during the inaugural awards ceremony established by the Vodafone Ghana Foundation, held at Academic City University, Accra.
Building on this success, Mr. Asante has now entered a global competition in education, vying with other national award recipients. He has been shortlisted among the top 13 Global Finalists in the “Outstanding Contribution in Education” category at the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions Award for 2023. The ultimate winner will be announced on October 31, 2023, during a Gala dinner at the H Hotel in Dubai.
Highlighting his contributions to education, the 2022 Best STEM Teacher shared his philanthropic endeavours, including the donation of 50 laptops and 100 desktop computers to six less privileged schools across Ghana on March 23, 2021. Additionally, between 2019 and March 2023, he generously provided 4,000 textbooks to over 70 schools nationwide.
Mr. Asante’s dedication to giving back to the community is exemplified by his establishment of a modern Science and ICT Lab Complex with two offices at his alma mater, Akoase SDA Basic School in the Eastern Region.
Mr. Eric Asomani Asante, an author with ten approved publications of the Best Time Computing textbooks, also contributes to the field as a member of a team of ICT specialists responsible for crafting a manual on “Technology Integration” for pre-tertiary teachers in Ghana. In November 2022, he collaborated with experts in “Educational Leadership” to develop a curriculum for leadership in education as part of the National Educational Leadership Institute’s project.
In addition to his educational initiatives, the 2020 Ghana Best Teacher recipient has constructed a school in his community, offering quality education to school-going children. With his numerous accomplishments and unwavering dedication to education, Eric Asante sets his sights on winning the Outstanding Contribution in Education category at the Global Educational Supplies and Solutions Award 2023, scheduled to take place in Dubai.
