The process of reforming Ghana has taken a new dimension, with New Patriotic Party Legislator, Kofi Brako allegedly illegally drawing water from Ghana Water Company Limited at the expense of other users.

The Tema Central lawmaker has been irrigating his football park in Tema Community Eight.

Sources allege that landlords with houses around and along the land on which the park is sited, ordered the closure of valves to stop water from flowing onto the park to enable them conserve water, but to no avail.

They said the legislator claimed to be drawing the water with the express approval from the Board Chairman of Ghana Water Company Limited.

A visit to the area by THE HAWK NEWS last weekend revealed that for a week resident drawing water from the same source were forced to acquire water pumps to amplify the fast dropping water pressure. The park is drawing water faster than normal.

Workers at Park confirmed that the water pressure had drastically dropped.  The park draws water directly from Ghana Water to irrigate an estimated 10 hectares of grass three times daily.

Water experts in the area said the park programme had disrupted water management systems, exposing them to abuse by powerful individuals.
