The leadership of the National  Democratic Congress in Parliament  have disagreed and   dissociated itself from claims by  Banda Legislator, and Deputy Minority Whip, Elder Ahmed Ibrahim, that most members of the NDC parliamentary caucus   if not all are backing  the candidature of Johnson Aseidu Nketia to oust incumbent national chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Ahmed Ibrahim had misrepresented the minority caucus at the campaign launch of his former Boss, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, claiming the entire membership of the minority in parliament were united solidly behind the General Secretary’s bid to unseat Ofosu Ampofo.

But the caucus in a swift rebuff said the declaration by Ahmed Ibrahim was his own creation, noting that the declaration was untrue.

Unsatisfied by the conduct of the Pentecost Elder, the leadership of the caucus vehemently rejected the claims by the Banda MP.

‘The Leadership of the Caucus categorically denies the assertions by Hon. Ibrahim Ahmed and wish to state as follows:

  1. That the Leadership of the Caucus never met on the matter and have not taken any decision on the matter;
  2. That the Caucus has not met and has not taken any decision on any of the candidates contesting any position within the Party;
  3. That the Leadership and the Caucus has no position on any of the candidates vying for the respective positions in the Party;
  4. That Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim’s attention was drawn to the matter and he has since rendered an unqualified apology to the entire Caucus.’ a disclaimer under the hand of Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu read in part.

Surprising to many is the utterances by the Deputy Minority Whip against a coordinate member of the Church of Pentecost during Aseidu Nketia’s chairmanship campaign launch.

Ofosu Ampofo and Ahmed are both loyal members and elders of the Church of Pentecost.
