Joshua H. Akamba, National Organizer NDC

Joshua Hamidu Akamba, the National Organizer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) reports that strong wind of defection is blowing the National Democratic Congress to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said, members of the NDC are busily decamping to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) across the country without details to support his claim.

The situation forced the National Organizer, Joshua Akamba, to issue reassuring statements to party members, insisting that they were ready to be the ‘last men standing’ for the opposition party.  He had earlier raised the alarm that the NPP led by the Nana Addo (Oldman) was plotting to rig election 2020 with the selection of Jean Mensah as the Electoral Umpire.

Listing the grievances against the opposition party, aggrieved Akamba, said the grassroots of the NDC were treated like second class members of the party, and that resulted in the humiliating defeat of the National Democratic Congress in 2016. For him, the NDC didn’t lose the 2016 election, instead, the branches decided to penalize the party.

According to Akamba, the branches of the party labored for national executives to enjoy where they’ve not sowed. The NDC only favours members of the highest level whom they recognize as authentic members of the party.  He accused his colleagues on National Executive Committee of fighting him (Joshua Akamba) when he decided to embark on ‘the unity walk’ that for him brought the party together as one unit.

He also alleged through his highhandedness, that the party blocked all channel employed by members to reach the NDC headquarters for complaints while treating members with contempt. He also said that lack of equity, fairness and internal democracy has made the NDC’s future appear bleak grassroots level.

He bewailed what he termed attempts to undermine his effort as organizer and bring him to his knee.

‘Its only in the NDC that you will see NDC media attacking NDC’. The NPP always protects their own’. He said angrily.

Akamba, made the disclosure when he took his turn to address members of the Dome-Kwabenya wing of  National Democratic Congress (NDC) launch of  its “2020 Door-to-door” election campaign at the Atomic Guest House with a call on party executives to work hard to help wrestle  power from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He however called on party supporters and sympathizers to unite to make the task of wresting power from the ruling NPP easy, saying, “our party is not only focused at the level”.

The event that brought together polling station and constituency executives, according to some branch officers, was the first to be held in the constituency.
