Julius Debrah’s Power FM was the target of a ferocious goon’s invasion on the evening of Friday, 04 November, 2022.
An organised group of goons wielding crude weapons invaded the studio of Power FM in a hunt for Kwadwo Yeboah, a former Constituency Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Kabu Kannor, a Deputy Constituency Chairman of Ada, McCarthy and the Host of the afternoon’s show under the command and supervision of the newly elected Ayawaso Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Harry Oto Hesse.
The invasion happened moments after Mugabi Maase signed out and the news team signed unto deliver the six o’clock news.
Calling for help, Oheneba Boamah Bennie, a news anchor in the middle of his bulletin, paused to announce the attack, sating, said, ‘we are under siege by some abled-bodied men’.
According to eyewitness account, upwards of eight bulky men forced their way into the studio of the station through a backdoor carrying crude weapons immediately after covering the main entrance to the premises of the radio station with their motorbikes to prevent people from gaining access into the premise.
‘I over heard them shouting where are they, where is Kwadwo Yeboah. Who were those on the radio discussing Ayawaso Central’. The eyewitness reported.
In no particular order, Manhyia South, Okai Koi Central, Ayawaso North and Ayawaso Central Constituencies were named on the show, and accussed of electoral malpractice, irregularities and failure to uphold the dictates of the NDC constitution without natural names.
But a dissatisfied Otu Hesse, resorted to thuggery instead of relying on due process to right the wrong(s)g. He decided to take the law into his hands and invade the station with goons to teach them a lesson.
The General Manager of Power FM, Mugabe Maase has condemned the act of hooliganism and intimidation, and calls upon the Inspector of Police (IG) to bring to an end this blatant abuse of the Rule of Law.
A formal complaint has since been logged at the Osu Police Station by the management of the radio station.
