The Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly proudly announces the completion of Phases 1 and 2 of its state-of-the-art market project. The initial groundbreaking for this significant project took place on Thursday, 26 October 2023, led by the then Minister responsible for Local Government and Rural Development and MP for Okere, Dan Kwaku Botwe.
Phase 1 of the project boasts impressive facilities, including two-story structures with 50 lockable stores, a police station, health posts, 100 market stalls, and three-unit classroom blocks designed to support traders and the community.
To mark the transition to the next phase, a brief durbar was held, officially handing over the site to contractors for the commencement of Phases 3 and 4. This new phase will enhance the market with additional amenities, such as another two-storey building with 50 lockable stores, 100 open stalls, 12 WC toilet units, 10 bathrooms, and the bitumen surfacing of a 0.62 km road from Nkoranza Newmarket to the Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly junction.
Moreover, the project will include the construction of sanitation and revenue offices, drilling and mechanizing boreholes, installing hydrants, rehabilitating existing structures, paving a 12,000m² area, setting up a waiting lounge, installing security lights, and establishing bus terminals.
The project has been awarded to four contractors: M/s GK Maybon Limited, M/s Galtons Company Limited, M/s Otensco Construction and Multi Services Limited, and K. Tac Company Limited, with A.E.S.L. serving as the project consultant. The completion timeline for this phase is set at six months.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including MCE for Nkoranza South Hon. Akwasi Amoateng, Nana Donyina Kropa Nkoranza Benkumhene, Nana Amaoh Gyare Gyasehene, the Coordinating Director and staff of NSMA, party executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party, the contractors and consultant, and residents of Nkoranza.
