In a calculated move aimed at securing a decisive victory in the upcoming December elections, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Running-mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has taken charge of initiatives in the Central Region, targeting to clinch twenty parliamentary seats.

Currently, the NDC holds 13 out of the 23 seats in the region. Professor Opoku-Agyemang is resolute in her mission to see the region “turn green,” signifying comprehensive wins in both the Presidential and Parliamentary contests on December 7, 2024.

Speaking at a gathering comprising Regional and Constituency Executives, the Regional Parliamentary Caucus, and representatives of the Central Regional Council of Elders at the University of Cape Coast, Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed the paramount importance of unity, respect, and a collective commitment among party members.

She underlined the necessity of mutual respect in all interactions, irrespective of rank or position, emphasizing the party’s aim to secure twenty parliamentary seats and beyond. “We must avoid complacency in our strongholds and overcome any doubts about winning specific constituencies. Our party has a history of triumphing in seemingly challenging areas,” she asserted.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang urged party members to set aside grievances and prioritize the collective interests of the party. She highlighted the significance of constructive communication and understanding, especially in challenging circumstances.

Echoing these sentiments, Central Region Chairman of the NDC, Professor Richard Asiedu, emphasized the monumental impact of securing victories in both the presidential and parliamentary races. The forum also discussed fundraising initiatives to bolster party activities in the region, including contributions towards the limited voter registration exercise.

The event witnessed a notable turnout of Party Executives, including Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Nana Brew Butler, Chairman of the Central Region Caucus in Accra, Members of Parliament, Parliamentary Candidates, and various party executives and activists.
