Accra’s radio scene is bracing for a potential blockbuster transfer as Sompa 106.5 FM is making aggressive moves to lure Ohene Nana Kwame Osei, the seasoned news anchor and midday talk show host of Original 91.9 FM.
Industry insiders suggest Sompa FM is keen on adding firepower to its news and current affairs lineup, and Ohene Nana—renowned for his commanding presence and hard-hitting interviews—is top of their wishlist.
The celebrated broadcaster, who currently leads Original FM’s weekday lunch talk show, has a rich history in Ghana’s media landscape. Before his current role at Original TV/FM (Ignite Media), he was a major force at Montie FM—until the station faced its controversial shutdown and license revocation.
While neither Sompa FM nor Ohene Nana has confirmed the potential switch, sources say negotiations are well underway, with the station prepared to roll out a mouth-watering package to secure his signature.
If the deal goes through, it could shake up Accra’s competitive radio industry, positioning Sompa FM as a formidable force in political and current affairs broadcasting.
Will Ohene Nana make the big leap? Or will Original FM fight to keep their star man? Stay tuned!
