Health workers at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), Tamale, Northern Region, have threatened to withdraw their services if nothing is done to protect them from contracting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Notifying the media of their intended action on behalf of all Doctors, Nurses, Laboratorians, Pharmacists, Orderlies and security workers of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, they said they have been forced to undertake an industrial action and withdraw their services starting Friday 12th of March, 2021.

The health workers at the TTH says they were daily exposed to the dreaded disease.

According to them, if nothing is done quickly by the government and the management of TTH, they may be forced to withdraw their services or turn patients away from the centre.

The three reasons cited as the basis for their intended industrial action are that non-health workers are receiving the covid-19 vaccines while we they, the frontline health workers here in Talame Teaching Hospital have no access to the vaccine; they are yet to receive their 50% basic salary allowances and insurance as promised them by the President.
