In the aftermath of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries held on January 27, 2024, where more than 20 incumbent MPs lost their seats, the party’s Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has issued a statement urging defeated aspirants to prioritize the supreme interest of the NPP.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among party members, urging those who were unsuccessful in the primaries to leave the election behind and join hands with the elected candidates. He highlighted the need for collective efforts to secure victory for the NPP in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
“To those who lost out, I, together with the rank and file of the Party, need your support and contributions to ensure that we win the majority of seats and the presidency in the December 2024 elections,” stated Dr. Bawumia.
Acknowledging the shocking and interesting outcomes of the polls, the Vice President encouraged defeated aspirants to set aside their personal disappointments and work closely with the successful candidates. He stressed the significance of considering the overall interest of the party for a successful electoral outcome.
Dr. Bawumia expressed his congratulations to all candidates who were elected to contest on the party’s ticket. He also commended the NPP Election Committee, the Electoral Commission, the security services, and the media for their substantial contributions in ensuring a peaceful and successful electoral process.
“As we move forward, I am confident that with unity of purpose, we will win in December 2024,” concluded Dr. Bawumia in his statement.
