As we step into the chapel to offer gratitude for COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s tenure, a new dawn rises with COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno’s ascension as Inspector General of Police. In this moment of transition and reflection, we stand at the threshold of expectation and reality, yearning for a Police Service where welfare is not just a ceremonial refrain but a lived and tangible truth under his stewardship.
May Yohuno not be like a father who showers to strangers with riches while his own children go hungry. Instead, may he be the guardian who nurtures, the leader who strengthens, and the beacon who restores—ensuring that those who serve are, in turn, served with dignity and care.
Let Yohuno be the custodian of professionalism, a sentinel of law and order.
Let him seek the wisdom of those who have walked this path before—former IGPs, Commissioners, Directors, and even the Lance Corporal who patrols the streets at midnight.
Let him breathe new life into the Public Affairs Department, ensuring the voice of the Service is neither muted nor misrepresented.
Let him rekindle the spirit of WASA (West Africa Social Activities), where camaraderie among personnel is not a relic of the past but a thriving tradition.
Let him awaken the dormant Police Welfare Fund so that those who serve and protect are not left vulnerable in their own time of need.
Let him put an end to arbitrary transfers, ensuring that no officer is displaced without the due process of a constituted Board.
Let him reactivate the Crime Statistics Reporting System, for a Service without data is like a ship sailing blindly into the storm.
Let him uphold inclusion, ensuring COP Gariba is not left out of the Police Management Board.
Let him champion the personal and professional growth of personnel, breaking no ladders but building new ones.
Let him be just in promotions so that merit, not favour, dictates the rise of officers.
Let him uphold rank integrity, ensuring that Sergeants are not ushered into the Police College ahead of Chief Inspectors who have paid their dues.
And with Yohuno, let no police station remain disconnected. May each outpost, each precinct, each district headquarters be equipped with reliable internet connectivity, enabling officers to execute their duties with efficiency and precision.
A new dawn beckons. The blueprint is clear. Now, let the action speak louder than the shutters of cameras
