Hassan Ayariga, founder and leader of APC

The All People’s Congress (APC) on Monday warned the Electoral Commission (EC), under the leadership of Jean Mensa, against causing trouble in the December 17 referendum where voters will decide whether to politicized local governance in Ghana or not.

Confirm the statement to TheHawNewspaer.Com by its spokesperson, Francis Ansah Tawiah, the APC party vowed to resist any attempt by the electoral body to rig polls in the upcoming election.

He said, the people of Ghana are already aware of plots to use the to manipulate the electoral process, endorse irregularities, approve fictitious results and subvert the will of the electorate in favour of the NPP, and are ready to resist such.

“In this regard, the national leadership of the APC states in very clear terms that our structures across all the polling stations in the country have been put on alert, as we will not allow anybody to use any means whatsoever to manipulate the electoral process.

“The APC therefore issues this as a direct caution to officers of the Electoral Commission  to steer clear of the referendum  and also to desist from testing the will of the people as they will in no way stomach any attempt by anybody to subvert their will at the polls.

Below is the press statement cautioning the EC.

APC WARNS EC AGAINST OVER VOTING AND MACHINATIONS ON DEC 17.
All People’s Congress (APC) led by Dr. Hassan Ayariga is urging the Electoral Commission of Ghana to conduct a free and fair elections devoid of ‘Over Voting and Machinations in the upcoming December 17 referendum.
The Electoral commission needs to regain its lost integrity suffered as a result of over voting in some Polling stations in the Oti region during the last recent referendum on creation of New regions. Some officials of Electoral commission were seen on many social media platforms urging people to vote more just to get the 50+1 vote. Such impunity will not be tolerated by the leadership of the All People’s Congress in December 17 referendum.
We are by this message urging all the civil society groups to send their reps to monitor the elections especially the referendum to allow political parties to present candidates for Assembly and Unit Committee Election.
