Vice President and NPP Flagbearer, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia

In a bid to solidify its campaign strategies and set the tone for the upcoming general election, the Vice-President and flag bearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has officially inaugurated the party’s 2024 National Campaign Team and Manifesto Committee.

Addressing party faithful and leaders at the inauguration ceremony held in Accra yesterday, Vice-President Bawumia emphasized the importance of unity within the party, stressing that it was pivotal for securing victory in the upcoming polls. He called on every member to play an active role in the party’s quest to emerge victorious in the election.

Highlighting the significance of the 40-member campaign team and manifesto committee, Vice-President Bawumia underscored that the party had the vision, ideas, and necessary resources to win the elections. He emphasized the need for unity and urged all party members, including past and present executives, to actively participate in campaign activities across the country.

The campaign team, chaired by the former Minister of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe, will oversee strategic planning and execution of campaign activities nationwide. Meanwhile, the Manifesto Committee, chaired by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, will be responsible for drafting the party’s manifesto for the upcoming election.

Vice-President Bawumia took a swipe at the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing them of lacking a clear vision for the country. He highlighted the NPP’s achievements and accused the NDC of plagiarizing the governing party’s ideas and promises.

“We have the best message, we have the vision, and we have the record,” remarked Vice-President Bawumia, emphasizing the NPP’s superior performance across various sectors compared to the NDC’s tenure.

Echoing Vice-President Bawumia’s sentiments, the former majority caucus leader and Chairman of the 318-member Manifesto Committee, Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu urged party members to align their actions with the party’s manifesto, which is yet to be developed. He stressed the importance of contributing to shaping the party’s vision and working towards the common goal of winning the elections.

Chairman Dan Kwaku Botwe emphasized the importance of effective campaign management, describing it as the management of people and resources to achieve objectives. He assured party members of the party’s commitment to utilizing all available resources to ensure success in the upcoming election while urging discipline and adherence to party values.

The inauguration ceremony marked a significant milestone in the NPP’s preparation for the 2024 general election, signaling the party’s readiness to embark on a robust campaign aimed at securing victory and advancing its agenda for national development.
