Dr Alhaj Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and flag bearer of the NPP

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has launched a blistering critique of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, questioning their readiness to govern Ghana again.

Speaking at a rally in the New Edubiase Constituency, Dr Bawumia challenged the NDC’s track record and plans. “Ghanaians gave the former President a chance to lead, and he failed to deliver. What new ideas does he bring to the table, considering the NPP’s unmatched developmental strides?” he questioned.

Dr Bawumia rattled off a comprehensive list of achievements under the NPP government, touting progress in job creation, agriculture, industrialization, infrastructure, and social services.

“We’ve created more jobs than you, achieved more in agriculture, built more roads, airports, and interchanges, and delivered more hospitals, schools, and public libraries than the NDC,” he declared. “The NPP has surpassed the NDC in every facet of governance.”

He also highlighted advancements in sanitation, sports, and security. “We’ve constructed more sanitation facilities, built more astroturf pitches, developed more sports complexes, and provided better equipment for the police, military, and navy than you ever did.”

Turning to education, the Vice President pointed to key initiatives like the restoration of teacher and nursing trainee allowances and the introduction of free technical and vocational education.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, Dr Bawumia urged voters to compare the two parties’ track records, asserting that the NPP remains the best choice for continued progress. “The numbers don’t lie—we have outperformed the NDC at every turn,” he said.

With these remarks, Dr. Bawumia threw down the gauntlet, framing the upcoming elections as a battle of results versus rhetoric.
