Today the 26 day of November 2019 must be named a very sad day for New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The Lawmaker of Aarea and Deputy Minister on Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio went to Atwima Koforidua to cut sod for the construction of a new police station but was fiercely met with booing and chanting “Away!”.
Angry constituents were heard in saying the legislator has been in Parliament for 20 years but has nothing show for his stewardship in the two minutes 16 seconds(2:16) amateur clip gone viral.
According to people, their Member of Parliament visits them during elections with various forms of promises but keeps not his promises.
The video captured a large crowd shouting and chanting in local dialect, “Benito Yebetu wo” (Benito we will vote you out)
Owusu Bio’s chances of retaining his seat for his party come 2020 elections is likely to suffer a defeat consequent to what many have identified as his prolonged failure in expediting action needed to address pressing challenges suffocating people in his constituency.
From sources at Constituency, many people were imported from many towns in Constituency ,the Constituency mobilized to bring in buses of men and women that will fill the space for the sod cutting.
