A sixteen-year-old JHS 3 student, Bismark Owusu met his untimely death when he slipped and fell into a river when jogging with friends at Sefwi Ashiam, near Sefwi Bekwai in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The incident occurred when the student, Bismark Owusu joined his colleagues to jog during their preparation for the 2019 Inter-Schools Gala Competition.
According to the Police, Bismarck was jogging close to the river but slipped and fell into it. He was drowned before he could be rescued and described it as unfortunate and sad.
Speaking to teacher Philip who was leading the team said, Police moved quickly to see if they could help but unfortunately the boy was pronounced dead at the Greenshields Hospital at Sefwi Bekwai.
The district police commander used the opportunity to advise members of community
to talk to their children about the danger of playing or jogging at the Riverside.
The body has since been deposited at the Sefwi Government Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile Sefwi Bekwai District Police has started investigation leading to the unfortunate death.
