Anastasia Baidoo Arthur, and Evelyn Serwaa, the two women seen in a widely circulated video pleading for help wh,ile in captivity, have been safely rescued in Nigeria, police sources have confirmed.
The rescue was the outcome of a coordinated security operation jointly led by the Inspectors-General of Police in Ghana and Nigeria, with strategic support from Ghana’s National Signals Bureau. The cross-border collaboration has so far resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects in both countries, all believed to be part of a transnational kidnapping syndicate.
The video, which triggered widespread concern and condemnation, showed the women in visible distress, sparking urgent calls for intervention across the region.
Authorities have confirmed that both victims are now receiving medical attention and trauma support, while efforts are underway to facilitate their return home.
Investigations remain active, with security agencies indicating that further arrests are expected as they move to fully dismantle the network behind the abductions.
