Felicia Dadeboe, Ho Customs Sector Commander

In a swift response to corruption allegations involving Felicia Dadeboe, Customs Sector Commander in Ho, Cocobod has intervened to clear her name after our initial report sparked public concern. The Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) conducted a review of the claims and assured that all parties involved in the cocoa smuggling bust have been compensated in full, helping to restore confidence in the process.

The scandal unfolded when Philip Agbonugla Ganya, a whistleblower, accused Dadeboe of withholding GH₵245,000, his rightful reward for tipping off customs about a smuggling operation. Ganya’s information led to the seizure of 161 bags of cocoa and 91 bags of animal feed, valued at GH₵360,000. Under the law, Ganya was entitled to 68% of the haul’s value but alleged that he only received GH₵5,000, accusing Dadeboe of misappropriating the rest for personal use, including renovations to her residence.

Following the publication of this report, Cocobod swiftly intervened to investigate and address the issue. The board clarified that the initial amount quoted as the value of the confiscated beans was erroneously inflated and did not reflect the actual worth. Additionally, Cocobod noted that other individuals had come forward, claiming to have provided information regarding the beans. The board has since resolved the conflicting claims, bringing clarity to the situation.

“The Ghana Cocoa Board takes its obligations seriously and has ensured that all parties, including Mr. Ganya, have been fully compensated by our internal policies,” said COCOBOD’s Director of Special Services. “We are committed to upholding the integrity of our officers and maintaining fairness in our reward systems.”

Cocobod’s swift action is expected to defuse tensions within the customs division and address concerns about internal corruption. Though Dadeboe remained silent throughout the ordeal, the latest developments clear her of any involvement in the alleged misappropriation of funds.

While some questions linger regarding the initial delay in processing Ganya’s reward, Cocobod’s intervention has brought much-needed closure to the case.
