Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, the Acting Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NiTA)

President John Mahama has made a bold move, appointing Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor as the Acting Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NiTA), replacing Richard Okyere-Fosu, a holdover from the Akufo-Addo era.

Dr. Kevor, a tech brainiac and top NDC man, currently serves as the Eastern Regional Chairman of the party and a senior lecturer at the Presbyterian University, Ghana. With nearly two decades in academia, his expertise spans Knowledge Management Systems, ICT, SME studies, Telecommunications, and Cybersecurity.

But that’s not all! He’s no stranger to the corridors of power—having served on the National Communications Authority during Mahama’s first administration, where he was also Ghana’s government expert on International Information Security at the UN.

Armed with a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Ghana, a Master’s in ICT & Management, and a Bachelor’s in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from KNUST, Dr. Kevor is a heavyweight in the tech space.

And here’s a fun fact—way back in 1999, he led St. Peter’s Boys Secondary School to the semi-finals of the Brilliant Science & Maths Quiz. A born achiever!

Now, all eyes are on NiTA. Will Dr. Kevor bring the digital revolution Mahama is gunning for? Time will tell, but one thing’s for sure—Ghana’s tech sector is in for a shake-up!
