George Opare Addo

In a stark and alarming message, George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organizer of Ghana’s opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a fiery warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). In what can only be described as a thinly veiled threat, Addo urged the NPP’s “warmongers” to adhere to the rules, making it clear that the NDC will no longer be the passive party in Ghana’s volatile political arena.

Speaking with a tone of defiance, Addo declared that the NDC is prepared to meet any aggression from the NPP with equal force. “We will be law-abiding and we shall not foment trouble anywhere, but the NDC will NEVER again be victims of peace,” he stated, in what many perceive as a direct challenge to the NPP’s approach to political competition.

Addo’s message was unambiguous: any move by the NPP outside the bounds of the law would be met with swift and decisive retaliation. “If you draw your dagger against us, we will draw our dagger against you,” he warned, signaling a readiness to respond in kind to any perceived provocation.

This statement from one of the NDC’s Youth Leader comes at a time of heightened tensions between the two major political parties in Ghana, with concerns that the upcoming election season could see an escalation in violence. Addo’s words, while cryptic, carry an unmistakable undertone of confrontation, raising fears of a possible breakdown in political civility.

As the nation braces for what could be a contentious period, the NDC’s position is now clear: they will not be intimidated, nor will they stand down in the face of aggression. The ball, it seems, is now firmly in the NPP’s court, with all eyes on how the governing party will respond to this bold declaration.
