Alistair Tahiru Nelson, one of the three contemnors in the ‘Montie 3’ gate, says the Assin Central Lawmaker who recently attacked and threatened to deal with Judges is only shedding crocodile tears.
Alistair passed the judgment of the action of the acerbic-tongue Legislator when he shares his opinion on a story carried by thehawknewspaper.com and shared on Facebook titled Kennedy Agyapong succumbs, beg Judges for mercy.
Describing the conduct of the Kencity Media Chairman, the former contemnor ‘‘it’s fake tears paa…when he used his station to castigate us, little did he know that one day one day he will fall short of the offense.’
The governing New Patriotic Party Legislator has been invited to appear before (Lands Court 12) to demonstrate why he should not be severely punished by the court for condescending and lowering the court.
Kennedy had used his media outlets to lampoon the courts and the law profession for making him lose a land he owed for the last eighteen years.
‘You think I fear someone? You are a stupid Judge. I am not like Anas who will take a bribe from you. I will deal with you. Nobody served me anything. I did not know what was going on. Then suddenly you say I should not go to the land. You are an animal of a Judge.’’
According to Kennedy, the decision of the court was born out malice. For Kennedy, the Judge’s decision was bribe induced.
But Justice Amos Wuntah Wuni whose decision Kennedy Agyapong is contested finds the rants by the Member of Parliament distasteful and disrespectful to the courts.
The High Court Judge has since issued a Warrant issued under his hand a Seal to appear before him on Monday, 14th September 2020 at 10:00 am to show why he should not be punished for Contempt if the matters are proven against him to the satisfaction of the court.
However, the self-acclaimed investigator has begun running a series of apologies from television through to radio and letters all to mitigate the punishment if found culpable of contempt of court.
‘Upon sober reflection, I have come to the realization that without prejudice to the substantive case, my expression about the court’s opinion was harsh thus I find it necessary to render unqualified apology without any reservation whatsoever to the Honourable Chief Justice, Judges, and Magistrates and any individual who have been offended by my uncomplimentary comments’.
‘I must conclude that I strongly believe in our judicial system and can never denigrate its integrity’. He wrote in an apology letter addressed to the Chief Justice, Judges, and Magistrates Association of Ghana.
For Alistair, Kennedy Agyapong is only making up to escape punishment.
Alistair Nelson, Salifu Maase, and Ako Gunn were both convicted for contempt and sentenced for four months imprisonment plus a fine of ten thousand cedis each.
