President-elect John Dramani Mahama has vowed to lead Ghana with humility and inclusivity after his resounding victory in the December 7 elections. Speaking to the nation, Mahama assured Ghanaians that his leadership style would be rooted in listening to the voices of the people, making collaboration and humility his top priorities.
“I do not intend to be a supreme leader who lords over anyone. I will listen to the people in all my dealings as President,” he said, reassuring citizens that their concerns would guide his decisions. The former president’s words came during a courtesy visit from Algeria’s Ambassador to Ghana, Mourad Louhaidia, who also extended his congratulations on Mahama’s victory.
While expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Mahama promised responsible leadership in Parliament, where the National Democratic Congress (NDC) now holds a majority. He emphasized that the NDC would focus on consensus-building and constructive dialogue, resisting any temptation to misuse its political power.
Mahama further underscored his administration’s commitment to boosting Ghana’s economic growth, creating opportunities for all citizens, and strengthening the country’s international partnerships. Louhaidia, in turn, welcomed the prospect of deepening relations between Algeria and Ghana, calling Mahama’s win a significant milestone for the country’s democratic progress.
With a promise of a new era of cooperative governance, Mahama’s victory speech set the tone for what he hopes will be a transparent, responsive, and forward-thinking leadership.
