While some presidential hopefuls are busy parading imported vehicles to score political points, former President John Dramani Mahama has made a lasting impact with a more meaningful gesture for the people of Ghana.

The NDC flagbearer has officially opened a newly built, fully equipped maternity ward at Atebubu Hospital in the Bono East Region, marking a pivotal moment in improving healthcare for women and children in the area.

The Nana Owusu Akyeaw Brempong II Maternity Ward, entirely funded by Mahama himself, boasts advanced medical equipment, including incubators, ultrasound machines, and surgical and delivery beds, all aimed at enhancing maternal health services. The construction of the ward is in direct response to a request made by the chief of Atebubu, reflecting Mahama’s ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of local communities.

In his address at the opening ceremony, Mahama highlighted the critical role the facility will play in improving healthcare access for mothers and newborns in the region. He emphasized that the new ward will help reduce maternal and infant mortality rates, providing safer deliveries and essential postnatal care.

The former president also expressed gratitude to the individuals and organizations who supported the project. He took the opportunity to thank his wife, Lordina, for her steadfast support in ensuring the timely completion of the project.

With this initiative, Mahama once again demonstrates his focus on delivering tangible results that improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, reinforcing his dedication to public service over political gimmicks.
